Serve and Support Families In Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco

If you’ve been wondering how to help meet practical needs right here in Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco, this is a great place to start.

As followers of Jesus, we’re called to be bridges that extend out from God’s heart to our city, introducing others to His desire for them to thrive. Sometimes that starts with seeking to come alongside our neighbors with compassion and practical care.

With questions surrounding government-funded food subsidies and food assistance programs in the Tri-Cities, many families in our community are feeling uncertain about how they’ll afford groceries in the coming months.

The Needs

Recognizing the desire to help and showing up to do so can be quite simple. But solving the larger issues that keep individuals marginalized—and helping people move toward thriving—is much more complex.

Because guiding someone out of a marginalized state requires both systemic change and faithful presence, Bethel partners with organizations that allow us to support both.

There is power in meeting those needs as a body of believers, and that power grows when we connect with other believers in our city who feel the same calling.

Supporting Local Partners

Bethel partners year-round with several local non-profits that serve our neighbors through food distribution and meal programs. We’re grateful for these partners as they allow us to join them in meeting needs on the “frontlines” of the Tri-Cities.

These organizations have years of experience and strong networks across the Tri-Cities. Rather than duplicating efforts, our goal is to strengthen and support their work so that thousands of people in our community are cared for in sustainable ways.

Ways To Get Involved

If you are interested in joining others who seek to help those marginalized and want to see people flourish, there is a place for you. If you’d like to serve regularly with one of our partner organizations, visit our Local Outreach page. There, you’ll find links to our partners’ websites and ways to sign up directly through their volunteer systems.

If you’re interested in helping with future food assistance opportunities through Bethel, contact us at local@bethel.ch. As we learn of needs from the non-profits we support, we’d be happy to reach out to you and let you know of ways to fill the gaps.

Other Ways to Help

Beyond food support, there are other ways to make a difference this season.

In November, Bethel is collecting toys and essential items for families experiencing financial hardship through our Christmas for Everyone event.

  • Drop-off deadline: December 7 at Bethel Church
  • Serve day: December 13 — families will get to shop for their loved ones with dignity and joy

Sign up to serve or donate here.

We also have an opportunity to serve globally through Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse that sends gift-filled shoeboxes and the message of Jesus’ love to children around the world.

  • Collection dates: November 2–23, 2025
  • How to participate: Pick up a shoebox to pack for a child in need and return it during Sunday services, or drop it off at Bethel’s Activity Center during Collection Week.

For questions about either of these opportunities, email local@bethel.ch.

Thank You

Thank you for caring for families and individuals in need across the Tri-Cities and around the world. Every act of generosity, no matter how small, helps demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink…”

— Matthew 25:35–40

Together, we can strive to be the bridges that connect others to the generous heart of Jesus and bring hope to our community. Together, let’s consider how God might use who we are, where we live, and what He’s put on our hearts to help others in sustainable ways, because that’s simply what the heart of God desires for each one of us.
