Have you noticed the renovations at the gymnasium? Bethel Church has collaborated with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to transform the gymnasium studio into a versatile Functional Fitness space for people of all ages and fitness levels.

As part of our unified 3630 mission we are reaching into our community so that more lives might be transformed by Jesus Christ. This is achieved by integrating the influential roles of coaches, the draw of physical fitness, and the growing exercise community. The objective? To offer a platform that fosters invitations, cultivates relationships, and facilitates growth— physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Operating from Monday to Saturday, FCA Fitness helps bridge the church’s Sunday on-campus activities with gym and fitness communities throughout the week.

Classes are set to commence in early 2024, with a preliminary soft opening to introduce coaching sessions this fall. While these Coach-led sessions will be fee-based, mirroring standard gym operations, the revenue generated will be channeled into supporting and maintaining our non-profit outreach programs.

Moreover, this venue will serve as a hub, fostering stronger connections among families of Kids Express and sports leagues, retirees, widowed individuals, couples, youth, and during special Saturday outreach programs.

We at FCA Fitness are excited to engage, equip, and empower YOU and your 3630.

“For you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body.” – 1 Cor 6:20

FAQ’s

How can I help?  We are looking for business donations and experiences to auction at our Equip the Gym fundraiser, October 28 at Bookwalter. In the past we’ve auctioned vacation rentals, sports tickets, fishing trips, date nights and spa experiences. Through your social network, we appreciate your donations! Reach out to Krystal Peterson at kpeterson@fca.org. The goal is to raise $25k!

Additionally, we need financial support to complete renovations!  Make donations here to get us across the finish line.

What is the timeline for opening?

  • September – Contractor Renovations complete
  • October 28th – 2nd Annual Fundraiser for equipment to launch
  • November/December – Soft Launch to train coaches
  • January 2024 – estimated Grand Opening

What is functional fitness?

Functional fitness is a type of exercise that equips you to move well through your daily life activities. It includes movements such as walking, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, lunging, and midline stability. The modalities are cardiovascular, muscular stamina and strength, and mobility to improve joint mobility, increase your range of motion, and improve bone density.

How will I know if these classes are for me? There is an athlete in all of us. You can expect to be treated with respect and on-boarded into the classes best for you. You will first complete 1-on-1 assessment(s) with a coach to determine your goals and establish a baseline of your physical ability. Based on this consultation we’ll help you find the class setting that is right for you.

What kind of classes will be offered?  We currently are planning on the following:

  • Intro to FUNctional Fitness
  • Legends (50+)
  • General Fitness & Performance
  • Youth (age 5-8, 9-14)

Class sessions will be offered based on coach availability. They will most likely be  session-based instead of year long memberships (e.g. 4-week session of Tuesday Youth class).

How much will classes cost? This is not yet determined.  Pricing will align closely with local gyms to not compete or hurt small business owners but instead partner with them. The fees will be used to cover coaching, programming, software, continuing education, gym maintenance, equipment and various outreach programs.

What outreach programs are you planning? Planned outreach ministries include: The Forge, Mirror Ministry, veteran’s (RWB), sobriety support through The Phoenix events, Special Needs, youth and more.  Additionally, FCA Fitness will allow us to foster deeper connections with our sports league families and families whose children attend Kids Express, our schools and Next Gen!

What are you called? As FCA fitness is launching, not only in our region but also across the country, each location will have a unique name. FCA Fitness at Bethel Richland will be called Equip!  We aim to Engage athletes relationally, Equip them physically, and Empower them in their relationship with Jesus Christ to serve with their fitness out of love for others.
